This is one of my favorite desserts. I like chocolate and walnuts very much, so the combination of these two ingredients forms the ideal sweet treat for me...!
Below you will be able to find the step-by-step instructions on how to make these tarts, and at the bottom of this post, you can find the recipe.

You can also have this dessert on a regular size and cut individual portions.

The dough has to be hard enough in order for you to be able to grate it.
With the help of a spoon, divide the grated base into your silicone cupcake pan.
Press the dough into the bottom of each cupcake pan to form a unified base.
Mix well the sugar, the cocoa powder, and the egg.
In a saucepan heat the milk and dissolve in it the butter. Do not boil.
Pour the milk mixture into the cocoa mixture and mix well; add the vanilla essence.
Place the chopped walnuts on top of the base.
Pour the cocoa mixture into the cupcake pan.
In a preheated oven, bake for 25’ to 30’ minutes at 180ºC.
Allow cooling in a wire rack.

Chocolate Walnut Tarts
Makes 12 small tarts
Base Ingredients
30gr powder sugar
70gr cold unsalted butter
80gr flour
20gr almond flour
1/3 of a beaten medium egg
Filling Ingredients
90gr of semi-skimmed milk
120gr caster sugar
1 medium egg
20gr of cocoa powder
30gr unsalted butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence (or extract)
90gr chopped walnuts
Base Preparation Method
- In a food processor mix all ingredients for a few seconds. Do not over-mix.
- Wrap the dough with cling film and refrigerate it for at least one hour. The dough has to be hard enough in order for you to be able to grate it.
- After grating the dough, with the help of a spoon, divide it into your silicone cupcake pan. (see photo)
- Press the dough into the bottom of the cupcake pan to form a unified base.
